Wanting Always Interrupts Being
“Wanting always interrupts being,”
Wrote Yung Pueblo.
I agree.
We want so much
And forget how to be
Like the horse saddles
in the red barn
That never collect dust
Or the robins
That never miss a chance
To bathe in a spring rain.
So is it really a pity
When a thick fog covers the hills
And blocks out the sun?
Or when an absent moon
Exposes exploding stars?
Or what about a field of grass
Too wet for children to play,
But parched from summer’s sun?
Seven burning candles,
shaped as pears
For every day you thought
you’d never make it.
